NEW New OnLevel platform, passenger, and goods lifts
EPSA · LEIA · Aritco UK distributor — serviced independently

Independent Gartec lift service — platform-led, UK-wide.

BASE provides independent service, repair and modernisation for the full Gartec and Aritco platform-lift line — from the residential HomeLift family to the Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access cabin, the legacy Gartec 8000, and the high-capacity ILS platforms. One engineering team covers every model, UK-wide.

Two model families, one engineering team

How does the Gartec lift range split — and do you service all of it?

Gartec's UK line is built on the Aritco platform-lift platform — a screw-and-nut drive design that scales from the residential HomeLift Compact up to the commercial Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access. The same drive principle runs through the whole line, which is why a platform-lift engineer trained on one model family carries the work into the next. Our split below mirrors how Gartec themselves position the range — Home and Commercial / Public.

Home · accessible residential

Aritco HomeLift family

The HomeLift, HomeLift Access and HomeLift Compact are the small-footprint residential lifts most people picture when they hear "Gartec". Single-phase 230 V plug-in installs, screw-and-nut drive, up to 13 m travel and 6 stops, wheelchair-accessible cabin variants on the Access model. Common in private dwellings, listed conversions, accessible apartments, and care-home owner accommodation.

  • Screw & nut drive · 230 V single-phase
  • 250–400 kg capacity · up to 6 stops
  • BS EN 81-41 platform-lift compliant
  • LOLER 6-monthly when used by people in workplaces

Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access & the wider distributed line

The Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access is Gartec's flagship commercial cabin — three-phase, accessibility-led, sized for councils, retail, schools, healthcare buildings and listed public-realm conversions. Alongside it Gartec distributes the Motala 2000, the Vimec AR:IA cabin, the ILS 500 / 1 000 kg high-capacity platform and the GLE Rhino goods lift. The legacy Gartec 8000 — a compact hydraulic with the feel of a conventional passenger lift — still sits in stretcher, bike, hospitality and medical applications and we keep it running on like-for-like parts.

  • Aritco 9000: 500–630 kg cabin · 400 V three-phase
  • BS EN 81-41 platform + EN 81-70 accessibility
  • Gartec 8000 hydraulic — passenger-feel, legacy supported
  • ILS 1 000 kg for goods-passenger high-capacity duty

The Gartec range, on one sheet

Every Gartec model we service, with its specs.

This is the spec sheet we work from on a Gartec or Aritco survey. Capacity, travel, drive and statutory standard — for every live model in the Gartec line plus the legacy hydraulic 8000. If your lift isn't listed, call us; the Aritco platform-lift drive has been broadly consistent across model generations and the engineering team has worked on most of them.

From the current line back to the early Aritco frames

Models we service today.
Plus the legacy units no one else stocks parts for.

The Gartec range has evolved over 30 years. If your lift is still in current production, parts are quick and the visit is routine. If your lift is a legacy Aritco frame from the 2000s or an early Gartec 8000, parts are slower but we source through original-equivalent channels and keep your lift running — we don't use age as an excuse to condemn the asset.

Questions we get on Gartec surveys

What people ask before handing us a Gartec contract.

Are you a Gartec dealer, or independent?
We're fully independent. Gartec is the UK distributor for Aritco platform lifts and we are not tied to either company — but our engineers are trained on the full Gartec / Aritco platform-lift range, from the original HomeLift to the Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access cabin, the Gartec 8000 stretcher lift, and the ILS 500 / 1000kg high-capacity units. Independent service is legal in the UK and almost always faster and more cost-effective than staying with the OEM.
Can you service a Gartec 8000 even though it was a hydraulic-feel passenger product?
Yes. The Gartec 8000 was marketed as a compact hydraulic lift with the look and feel of a conventional passenger lift, used for stretcher, bed, bike, hospitality and medical applications. Our passenger-lift engineers cover hydraulic systems and our platform team covers the screw-and-nut drive lifts that dominate the rest of the Gartec / Aritco range — so whichever way your 8000 was specified, an engineer with the right discipline is on the visit.
Do you stock Gartec and Aritco spare parts?
We hold a fast-moving stock of common Gartec and Aritco platform-lift consumables (door interlocks, drive nuts, control board fuses, screw lubrication, push-button assemblies, ribbon cabling, photocell sets). For lower-frequency parts we source through original-equivalent channels rather than waiting on the OEM. If your lift is a legacy Gartec 8000 or an early Aritco HomeLift Compact that the manufacturer has stopped supplying, we engineer a like-for-like solution rather than condemn the lift.
Which statutory inspections do Gartec lifts need?
Every Gartec accessibility or platform lift in a workplace context needs a LOLER 1998 thorough examination — every 6 months for lifts carrying people, every 12 months for goods-only lifts. PUWER 1998 sits alongside as the work-equipment regulation. Platform lifts are designed to BS EN 81-41; the Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access and similar cabin platform models also reference BS EN 81-70 accessibility provisions. We carry out the thorough examinations ourselves under our SafeContractor approval (member CN8516).
How does a takeover from the Gartec service contract work?
Same as any OEM takeover. We do a free engineering survey, document the lift's current state and outstanding faults, write you a fixed annual contract, transfer your maintenance records onto our system, and pick up the next service visit. There's no gap in cover and no statutory inspection lapse. We routinely take over Gartec, Aritco and other EPSA-network platform lifts from both the OEM and other independents.
Do you work on Gartec installations outside the M25?
Yes. Our service map covers the UK — London and the surrounding M25 are same-day for emergency call-outs; the rest of England, Wales and Scotland are scheduled by region. The Gartec engineer network has UK-wide coverage and our deployment mirrors that footprint, which means we can often get a senior platform-lift engineer to a council building in the North West or a care home in the South Coast within the same week.

Take over a Gartec contract

Tell us about your Gartec lift. We'll tell you what it actually needs.

Whether it's a residential HomeLift due its annual LOLER, an Aritco 9000 PublicLift Access in a council building you'd like off the OEM contract, or a legacy Gartec 8000 the manufacturer says they can't part-stock — start with a survey. A senior platform-lift engineer reviews every enquiry. No automated triage, no call-centre script.
