Independent Pollock lift service across the UK.

BASE provides independent UK service, repair, parts and modernisation for Pollock platform, through-floor and home lifts. What does Pollock ownership look like under an independent UK contract?

30+ years

Pollock has designed and manufactured lifts in the UK for more than three decades. BASE services that installed base as an independent specialist.

24/7

Phone-triaged emergency cover for Pollock platform and accessibility lifts — same-day attendance across London and the M25, by region UK-wide.

Both lift types

Platform and through-floor lifts (the Pollock specialism) plus passenger lifts in the same contract when your building runs both.

BS EN 81-41

The platform-lift code Pollock is engineered to. Every visit documented to that standard plus LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998.

BASE coverage for Pollock

What we have built around the brand.

  • Pollock-trained on platform & through-floor

The Pollock catalogue spans home lifts, home elevators, through-floor lifts and platform lifts. Our engineers carry the platform-lift discipline (screw-and-nut drive, BS EN 81-41) and the residential through-floor mechanics needed for the home and home-elevator side of the range.

  • Independent — not an OEM front desk

Pollock is itself an independently owned UK manufacturer. BASE is an independently owned UK service house. Your contract is with us, not a manufacturer call centre, and we are explicitly not tied to Pollock or any other brand — which is why we are free to recommend like-for-like parts and modernisation paths rather than upgrades-to-suit-the-OEM.

  • Spares network for a 30-year installed base

Pollock's product line has changed over three decades and some older units sit outside the current spares catalogue. We hold van-stock of fast-moving consumables and source through original-equivalent channels for the lifts the OEM channel no longer fully supports — so a 20-year-old Pollock home lift does not get condemned because a single relay has been discontinued.

  • British Safety Standards reporting

Pollock cites conformity to British Safety Standards on every product. We document every visit to the same conformity floor — LOLER 1998 thorough examination every 6 months for lifts carrying people, PUWER 1998 in parallel, and the relevant BS EN 81 code for the cabinet (81-41 for platform lifts, 81-40 for stairlifts and through-floor lifts where applicable).

Manufacturer heritage

Three decades of UK design and manufacture.
Still independently owned.

Pollock Lifts has spent more than thirty years designing and manufacturing lifts in the United Kingdom — home lifts, home elevators, through-floor lifts and platform lifts. The product range sits squarely in the residential and accessibility market, and the design discipline prioritises safety and product reliability in conformity to British Safety Standards. None of that is incidental: this is a UK manufacturer that chose not to be acquired into a multinational, and the engineering culture reflects it.

That parallel is the reason buildings on the Pollock installed base call us. BASE is itself an independent UK lift specialist — platform-led, passenger-trained, with no OEM tie and no manufacturer-controlled service routing. When Pollock owners go looking for an independent service house, the rare option is one that understands what independence in this industry actually costs.

Pollock builds platform, through-floor and home lifts to British Safety Standards. We keep them running.

Model coverage

The Pollock product families we service in the field.

Indicative coverage across the current Pollock lineup and the legacy UK-built installed base. Capacities and travel heights vary with the specific specification — every contract is sized from the actual lift plate, not a brochure figure. If your Pollock is older than the units listed here, call us; the chances are we have already worked on it.

Voices from Pollock sites

What block managers and accessibility officers say when the Pollock contract changes hands.

“We had a through-floor Pollock that had been on rolling annual cover with the original installer for years. When response times started slipping we asked BASE to survey it. Within a fortnight we had a fixed-fee contract, a clean LOLER report, and a part on order that had been ‘in the system’ for six months under the previous lot.”

“Two of our blocks run Pollock platform lifts in the lobbies and an Otis passenger lift in the main stair. BASE put it all on one SLA — one engineer relationship, one report each quarter. The Pollock side has been steadier in the last year than at any point in the lift's life.”

Pollock-specific questions

What people ask before handing us a Pollock contract.

Pollock is an independent UK manufacturer. Why use BASE rather than Pollock's own service team?
No commercial reason to switch unless Pollock's service is not delivering on response time, parts lead-time, or contract clarity — that is exactly when buildings call us. We are not anti-OEM; we are anti-tied. An independent service house with no commercial allegiance to a manufacturer is free to recommend the right repair (and the right modernisation timing) rather than the most profitable. The fact that BASE is itself an independently owned UK lift business means we genuinely understand the position Pollock operates from.
Do you cover the full Pollock range — home lifts, home elevators, through-floor lifts and platform lifts?
Yes. Our engineers carry the disciplines for all four product families. Platform lifts and the home elevator range sit inside our platform-lift specialism (BS EN 81-41 screw-and-nut drive); home lifts and through-floor lifts use the same residential mechanics our engineers cover for sibling brands (Aritco, Cibes, Stannah Sarum, Terry, Gartec). If your building has both a Pollock and a separate passenger lift in the same SLA, we contract the lot under one engineer relationship.
Our Pollock is older than the current product line. Will you still service it?
Yes. Pollock has been designing and manufacturing in the UK for more than thirty years, which means a meaningful slice of the installed base now sits outside the current product line. We hold van-stock of fast-moving Pollock-compatible consumables (door interlocks, drive nut sets, microswitches, control-board fuses, ribbon cabling, push-button assemblies) and source via original-equivalent channels for parts the OEM has withdrawn. Age is rarely a reason to condemn a Pollock — most legacy units have a viable modernisation path.
How does a takeover from a Pollock service contract work?
Administratively, the same as any takeover. We do a free engineering survey, document the lift's current condition and outstanding faults, write a fixed-fee annual contract sized to your visit cadence and statutory inspections, transfer maintenance records onto our system, and pick up the next service visit. There is no gap in cover and no LOLER inspection lapse. If you need notice served on the existing contract, we walk you through the wording.
Which statutory inspections does a Pollock lift need?
Every Pollock lift used by people in a workplace context needs a LOLER 1998 thorough examination every 6 months; goods-only platforms drop to every 12 months. PUWER 1998 applies in parallel as the work-equipment regulation. Platform lifts are engineered to BS EN 81-41; through-floor lifts reference BS EN 81-40 where applicable. We carry out the thorough examinations ourselves under our SafeContractor approval (member CN8516) — you do not need a separate insurance-led inspector unless your building policy specifically requires one.
Where in the UK do you service Pollock?
London and the M25 on same-day emergency response. UK-wide for planned maintenance, parts visits and modernisation — Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Sheffield, Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh, Glasgow and most major cities are routinely covered. Pollock's own engineer footprint is UK-wide and ours mirrors it. Call us with a postcode and we will confirm response window before you sign anything.
