Can I email BASE for a non-urgent enquiry?

Yes — drop the details below and your enquiry lands directly with an engineer at enquiries@baselifts.co.uk. We read every message ourselves; no call-centre, no ticket queue. Expect a reply within one working day. For active entrapments call 020 3435 6838 instead.

Response time by zone

When can I get a response?

Response is dispatched from 85 Great Portland Street, W1W 7LT. London Zones 1 and 2 sit inside a typical two-hour arrival window on an emergency, Zones 3 to 6 are usually four hours during the working day, and the full M25 ring stays inside same-day coverage. Outside the M25 we work to a next-working-day SLA for routine faults and same-day for entrapments.

The same engineering roster handles platform lifts (Aritco, Cibes, Gartec, Stannah Midilift and the rest of the platform set) and passenger lifts (Otis, Kone, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp, Orona, Stannah passenger). One lift, one engineer who knows that lift family — wherever the postcode lands.

Response targets by zone

SLA target
  • Zone 1 Same-day

City of London · Westminster · Soho · Mayfair

    Typically within 2 hours

  • Zone 2 Same-day

Camden · Islington · Canary Wharf · Battersea · Kensington

    Typically within 2–3 hours

  • Zone 3–6 ≤ 4 hours

    Hammersmith · Greenwich · Ealing · Croydon · Romford · Sutton

    Same-day during working hours

  • M25 ring Same-day

    Uxbridge · Watford · Enfield · Dartford · Sevenoaks · Reigate

    Working hours where feasible

  • Outside M25 Next-day

Wider UK — home counties, regional cities, rural sites

Same-day for entrapments, scheduled visits otherwise

SLA targets are typical working-hour response. Out-of-hours and weekend response is covered by the same 24/7 number — actual arrival varies with traffic and crew availability, but the team is on the road, not on hold.

Contact FAQ

How do I reach BASE for an emergency lift call-out?
Call 020 3435 6838 — it is answered 24 hours a day, every day, by a real engineer rather than an automated triage centre. For lifts inside London Zone 1 and Zone 2 we target same-day attendance and typically arrive within two hours. Zone 3 to Zone 6 is usually within four hours during working hours. The full M25 ring is covered same-day; outside the M25 we work to a next-working-day SLA.
When can I expect a response if I email rather than call?
Email enquiries@baselifts.co.uk for quotes, contract enquiries, LOLER documentation and survey requests. Emails sent inside UK working hours are usually answered the same day; out-of-hours emails are picked up by the following morning. For anything urgent — entrapment, stuck lift, lift out-of-service in a critical building — call the 24/7 line on 020 3435 6838 rather than emailing.
Where is the BASE Lift Services head office?
85 Great Portland Street, London W1W 7LT — a fifteen-minute walk from Oxford Circus, Marylebone and Fitzrovia, on the edge of the Harley Street medical quarter. The London office is the primary engineering base; engineers are dispatched on foot, by tube and by van across Greater London and the M25, with regional engineers covering the wider UK from the same dispatch team.
Do I need to fill in a form, or can I just call or email?
Phone and email are the fastest routes. We deliberately keep a single 24/7 number and a single inbox rather than routing customers through a web form — every enquiry is read by an engineer, not a chatbot. If a contact form is more convenient, drop your number and a one-line description of the lift to enquiries@baselifts.co.uk and we will call you back inside the same working day.
Which postcodes do you cover from the London base?
Every London postcode in Zones 1 through 6, the full M25 ring, and the home counties (Surrey, Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent). Beyond the M25 we operate as a single national contract from London — regional engineers cover the wider UK on the same SLA structure, with longer travel-time allowances. See /locations/london/ for the central-London zone map and response targets.
One call. One engineer. One contract.

Tell us about your lift. We'll tell you what it needs.

Whether it's a platform lift in a Belgravia townhouse, a passenger lift in a City office tower, or a 2 am stuck-lift call in a Hackney council block — every enquiry to BASE goes through a senior engineer, not a triage centre. Call the 24/7 line, or email and we'll call you back the same working day.
